Girona, chosen home to over 100 professional cyclists, has become the heartland of professional cycling in recent years. It is also the home of CHPT3, serving as the perfect research and development base as well as testing ground for our products. We’ve ridden more kilometres on the roads of Girona than anywhere else in the world, so it made total sense to honour the city to which they all lead - introducing CHPT3 GIRONA.
The inspiration for our latest collection comes from the iconic Pont de Ferro bridge in the centre of town, connecting the old town with the new. Built by Gustave Eiffel a few years before his most famous achievement, the Tour d’Eiffel in Paris, it's constructed from wrought iron using a continuous lattice structure, and when the sun shines, as it often does in Girona, the footbridge becomes emblazoned with shadows. It is these shadows that have served as the design inspiration for this first edition of our CHPT3 GIRONA products.
Ella Tomkins, CHPT3 Designer, shares her stimulus for the the collection: "The GIRONA range uses a series of abstract patterns inspired by certain views and crops of the famous ‘Eiffel' bridge. Inspired by the magic of light and the juxtaposition of solid objects projecting soft, intricate patterns onto other surfaces, these shadows and subtle interplays of light move and change as the sun falls on the striking Fire Red iron structure. Combined with both the positive and negative spaces found in and around the bridge, these were used to create the layers of pattern on the GIRONA jerseys.
"CHPT3's minimally modernist garments tip a chapeau as much to Savile Row as to the Alpine cols."
"Stylish, sophisticated and smoothly understated. ...reminiscent of the designs of Sir Paul Smith and Timothy Everest"
"Millar’s entry into cycle kit is as slick and stylish as you would expect"
