Material is super light and really comfortable. Like it!
I cannot recommend Chpt3 baselayers highly enough - they are the most light weight fabric I have ever come across and are an absolute pleasure to wear!
The coloured design is taken from parametric patterns created from the data (a combination of my heart rate, watts, speed, distance, etc) of one of my final races, stage 17 at the 2014 Vuelta a España
This is a microfiber polyester made as light and soft as possible. Its hydrophilic outer layer wicks moisture off the skin to the jersey yet doesn’t absorb moisture along the way.
We made it a perfect weight so that when paired with the Vuelta Jersey you end up with the combined weight of a normal jersey only with much better comfort and moisture management.
Much the way you may choose a flash of colour to feature on the inner lining of your suit, we the exciting colour and pattern of the Vuelta base layer pops when seen beneath a jersey.
The neck is a little more round than normal, more like a vest than a T-shirt, compensating for the higher necks of our jersey..
A sleeveless cut has been chosen as the sleeves on an undershirt can often be more uncomfortable with a short sleeve jersey.
Originally this was the chosen fabric to make a super lightweight climber’s jersey for the Tour de France, Fabian Wegmann (a Garmin and Castelli racer on that year’s Tour de France) mentioned to Castelli he thought it would make an excellent base layer material – this is the first time that idea has become a reality. It is very lightweight and has superb wicking properties, exactly what is required of a lightweight climber’s jersey and a base layer.
Due to the fact the fabric is so lightweight, we have created ‘false’ hems to ensure maximum longevity. Instead of folding over the edge of the material and sewing it down, there are additional panels of material sewn on with double stitching where the fold of the hem would normally be.
There are an additional two panels of a more flexible fabric added into the hips to increase comfort and mobility while in a cycling position.
CHPT3 bespoke clothing uses a tailoring system for its sizes. We use the physical chest or waist size as the garment size - If you have a 40" chest you need a 40" Jersey - Please note while the CHPT3 range is not designed for racing it is still a close fitting athletic design suitable for active cyclists.
This fits exactly true to the size your chest, so if you measure 40" please purchase 40. It is supposed to be close fitting, like a vest under a shirt.
